Rome Day 2

Last night I went on a night time spooky walking tour that included a pub crawl!

It was a great time. The coolest thing we saw was one of the windows in the building across from the Trevi fountain had so many ghost sighting of a woman jumping out the window that they boarded it up and painted a window on...you can only tell if you know to look for it!

Look at the top right hand window: painted!!

The pub crawl after the tour made for a fun night....they pour STRONG drinks here....seriously...free pouring 3-4 shots with a splash of mix.

Today I went to Vatican City to St. Peter's to see the pope and the Sistine chapel.
It was interesting....people were cheering at the Pope in his pope mobile like it was a sporting event and not a church service. He spoke briefly and blessed everyone in several languages.
I hit the Vatican museum (did you know they have preserved mummy's in there?!) It was cool.
Then the highlight of the visit: the Sistine chapel!

Pope Jean Paul in his Popemobile!

Well, tonight I do laundry! Woo Hoo!!! It's the little things really. My clothes aren't dirty so much as systematically all starting to REAK of cigarette smoke after couple nights in bars and pool halls. Everyone chain smoke here...so gross. I went to a pub last night with a bunch of the hostel staff and they chain smokes SO much that my throat is raw from breathing in the second hand smoke.

Tomorrow morning I am doing a day trip into Naples to see Pompeii...630am wake up call so no more drinking for me tonight!

I'm going to meander down to the Spanish steps to people watch and suntan with the last few hours of sun before dinner...and I really need to work in Bailey's break number 2 before they close. Life's hard.
