Dispatch Concert

The dispatch concert was so awesome...in the middle they pulled out their old van they used to tour in into the middle of Madison Square Gardens and played a bunch of acoustic songs standing on the roof of it...it was amazing (and where I was standing put me about 10 feet from  it so I was super close)!

Today Show, World trade Center Site and the Brooklyn Bridge

I went to see a filming of the Today Show with the girls I was sharing a room with. We saw a concert performance outside...all those signs are actually made by the today show staff and handed out to people to hold up. We saw Rupert Grint from Harry Potter as well.

Rupert Grint's head!

I also headed down to see the world trade center site and then walked over the Brooklyn bridge.

I took a great tour of the World Trade Center site with guides that lost loved ones that day, they told us their story and showed us around.

The Brooklyn bridge was a picturesque walk and I stopped on the other side to order a yummy pizza!

Statue of Liberty

I visited the Statue of Liberty by taking a free round trip ferry ride to and from Staten Island.

New York Rockefeller center

I'm having lots of fun in New York. I really like it here!

Yesterday I went to "the top of the rock"...the viewing platforms on the top of Rockefeller center. My research said that they were better than the empire state building and no lines....it was a great view and just walked right up!...well not walked... but they had a cool open top elevator.

Then I did some shopping on canal street/soho area! It was like Tijuana but without the pushy sellers, ha ha. I loved it, got some cool "designer" sunglasses and stuff, then hit a few shops in union square.

In the evening I went to see Mamma Mia and it was very good!

New York

I traveled to New York July 10- July 16, 2007 to go to the Dispatch Concerts at Madison Square Garden. They are one of my favorite bands that broke up years ago. When I heard they are doing a reunion concert in New York I was elated, bought tickets for all 3 nights and booked my flight to New York!

It is REALLY hot in NY...like 40 degrees humid hot....My second flight into Newark was delayed by 2 hours, so that sucked, but otherwise no problems.

The hostel is so great...I really scored on this one! The Big Apple Hostel is right in the middle of Times Square, next door to an awesome deli(which will feed me 3 square meals a day) and is clean above all! I requested a quiet room at the back, bottom bunk and female dorm, not expecting to actually get it, yet I did!

There's a TV room, outdoor deck/garden area and kitchen. I just got in at 8pm (New York time) so I checked out times square a bit and then grabbed some dinner at the deli next door. I am so tired so am heading up to read and go to sleep to be ready for a busy day tomorrow!
