San Juan Del Sur

After Leon we made our way south to San Juan Del Sur were we met up with 5 friends from Calgary and moved into our amazing rental house for the week. It has an amazing view of the town and is a short walk to everything.

San Juan Del Sur is a small town, definitively a tourist town but it's walkable, has lots of bars and restaurants, a great market and fish market and lots of near by beaches for surfing. It was perfect for our group vacation and renting the giant house worked out to $50/night each...it came complete with daily maid service.
We went out for a few meals but did a lot of cooking at the house to save money. One night we went to the fish market and got a giant tuna, jumbo shrimp and squid enough for 8 for less than $12. The other night we got 3 big snappers and 5 big lobster tails for $20.

We took the hostel shuttles to a couple different beaches for surfing and swimming. They  have good beginner waves here and the sand is as soft as flour.

There's a nice hike you can do to the giant Jesus statue on the hill overlooking the town. It was erected in 2009 and has quickly become an iconic landmark and geographical reference point for the town. At 24 meters, it’s one of the 10 largest Jesus statues in the world.
It took us about 2 hours round trip from the house and has great views of the bay from the top.

We  had a great week... every one sent their separate ways except me, Scott, Mike and Laura who all headed for Lake Ometepe for 4 days of fun!
