Railay Beach

Beautiful Railay Beach!
We survived the long journey to Thailand and made our way to beautiful Railay Beach. Railay is on the Andaman sea and only accessible by boat...no cars here. It's very beautiful with huge cliffs jutting out of the sea around us and white sand beaches.

We really lucked out with our flights. On the first 10 hour flight to Tokyo, a set of 3 middle seats beside us was still empty when boarding was almost done so I sat in one of the aisle seats and managed to claim all 3 for the entire flight.

Scotty had our 2 seats and we took turns sleeping/stretching out on the 3 middle seats...it made a really long flight much more tolerable. We had a 3 hour layover in Tokyo then on our second 7 hour flight we again both managed to get 3 seats each to ourselves!

I was exhausted and slept the whole flight...I slept through 2 meals and it felt like the flight didn't even happen...those 3 seats to myself felt like first class. We arrived in Bangkok at 11pm and stayed the night in an airport hotel until our 9am flight yesterday to Krabi where we taxi'd to the pier and took a longtail boat to Railay Beach.

We finally arrived in paradise around noon 24 hours after we left Calgary and hit the beach!

We were actually pretty perky and awake until we both crashed hard around 9pm...hopefully, we'll get over our jetlag soon. Tonight's bedtime is 10pm...I'll aim for 10:30 tomorrow! We are also hoping to become somewhat more functional soon...we've already forgotten the 4 digit safe code (which we chose) and had to get the hotel to come open it, locked our key in the room and had to get housekeeping to open the door and Scott left the door to the room open while he was in the shower leaving me to come back after a massage to find a stray cat on our bed (I'm just glad it wasn't a monkey). We're convinced the hotel staff think we are idiots.

We have been basking in the sun (it's insanely hot and humid...we love it!) and swimming and otherwise enjoying this beautiful place. The wifi is brutal here, almost non-usable so if you haven't heard from me that's why. I'm off to sleep now....2 more days to eat, sleep, swim, read, tan... repeat.
